Dallas Stars lose “big clients” after political protest from their players.

The protest from players is now costing the owners money. Over the past week we have seen protests from multiple sports league's following the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin and the National Hockey League has been no exception. Although protests or boycotts from players in the National Basketball Association have received a good bit of praise in this regard, with the NBA also getting its fair share of critics to be sure, similar protests in the NHL have been met by far more backlash from fans, especially as more and more evidence in the case of Jacob Blake has come to the forefront.

Despite the reaction from their own fans however the NHL and its players have largely moved forward with their plans and have now even delayed the playing of their playoff games in an effort to send a political message. That message however has been met by even more derision from the NHL's fans and now there is a very clear message being sent to at least some NHL teams by some of those fans, fans who just so happen to wield a lot of financial muscle.

According to comments made by SB Nation's Robert Tiffin this week there are now "big clients" of the Dallas Stars organization who have made the decision to cancel their accounts with the team following some political protests from a pair of their players. Specifically Tiffin cites the fact that both Stars forward Tyler Seguin and Stars forward Jason Dickinson took a knee during the national anthem as the reason behind the cancelation from the as of yet to be identified "big clients." You may not think that this is a particularly big deal given the millions that teams normally pull in every year, but I assure you nothing could be further from the truth. No league depends more on ticket revenue than the NHL and this will no doubt send a powerful message to the Stars ownership group.

I have to admit that given the fact that the Stars play in Dallas, Texas makes this news come as relatively little surprise. Texas is after all largely a red state and when you combine that with the fact that hockey has a very blue collar audience it is not hard to imagine how those clients may have felt about the decision to protest against law enforcement and in defense of Jacob Blake.

I suspect that we may hear more stories like this if the protests continue, although I wonder how much freedom NHL players will be given on this front if it continues to hit the owners in their bank accounts.

Robert Tiffin @RobertTiffin A source told me that some big clients canceled their accounts after Seguin and Dickinson took a knee during the anthem. Given the climate, I'd expect the team to be extremely careful not to risk losing more business by saying more than they think they absolutely have to.

Thank God the Flyers took down the statue of Kate Smith. What hell would have been unleashed if they had not. I wonder where they stashed it? where ever it is probably doing great harm to those who gaze upon it.

Paid athletes can’t boycott. They can either walk out or strike. Fans can.

It’s like the NYT, CNN They keep spouting antiamericanism causing them to lose customers and revenue yet they don’t stop. They lose massive revenue and stay in business. Who do they actually work for? Who pays them?

“The NHL paused their playoff schedule for 2 days, thinking this will boost their support among blacks.”

I watched parts of a few games yesterday. I couldnt believe all the hockey-based ads (like credit cards with team logos, etc) featured almost exclusively blacks and Asians. I’ve been to lots of hockey games and this is not what the fan base looks like.

So sick of pandering.

This Pro Sports (NHL/NBA/NFL/MLB/MLS) hiatus/strike because of the Kenosha (WI) Jason Blake shooting raises some interesting points.

1) Will these job actions be repeated for every Blue-on-Black injury incident (Blake was not killed!)? If so, how can anyone plan a schedule?

2) There can be no doubt that these sports are a profit-seeking enterprise, they say it themselves. So, when you allow the workers to dictate the politics and operations, why is it the paying spectators fault (implicit in the media PR) for the drop in revenues.

3) The current #1 issue in all of this stoppage is not sports but politics. If Joe Biden wins will this all go back to 'normal'? Of course not, this is a revolution, not an election! So why expect the paying public to return?

So now, anyone for watching Division II sports?

“But we/I stand by our organization’s commitment and support our players 100% to express their views,” Alberts said as per DeFranks.

They are cowards. They bend the knee because they are afraid to stand up to the mob.

Thank God the Flyers took down the statue of Kate Smith.

And stopped playing her "God Bless America" as did the Yankees (7th Inning stretch) at the same time (April 2019). All because she sang (did not compose nor write) a Broadway song, “That’s Why Darkies Were Born”, a song that even Black Communist Hero, Paul Robeson, recorded BECAUSE IT WAS ANTI-RACIST! There is no intelligence required to be a member of the Cancel Culture and BOY, do they keep demonstrating that fact!

A comment from the Flyers Team President, Paul Holmgren, justified the statue and music removal; "... we cannot stand idle while material from another era gets in the way of who we are today.” He also made reference to the NHL [motto?] 'Hockey is for Everyone'. Wonder if that still stands now, in 2020?

When people see what is happening on the streets of America at the hands of BLM, sports teams who support them are the last thing we care about.

"Satan steals, kills, and destroys everything it can get its paws on. (Don’t kid yourselves, this is not just a physical or political war.)"

Revelation 6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

People are walking away nationwide from billion dollar leagues like the NFL, NBA, MLB and MLS. Those leagues may survive the year. But the idiot woke athletes in leagues that have less revenue and rely heavily on ticket sales like the NWLS, USL and minor leagues may not survive.

Those athletes in smaller revenue leagues are cutting off their nose to spite their face. The NWLS was expanding and had started to move past the USA Women’s team antics at the World Cup. Now their woke crap has pissed off so many fans that I am not sure they can survive. Even in leagues that continue to play and try to be sensible, the athletes spout off crap on social media and lose season ticket holders.

I watched sports to be entertained, period. Bring politics into the game and I am no longer entertained. You will not get my money. These athletes need to pull their heads out of their a$$ and understand something, you are just another entertainer. If you could teach gorillas to play football or build robots to play in the NBA or drone cars in NASCAR, I would still watch if it was entertaining. I do not need you in my life there are other ways to be entertained. But these foolish sports entertainers think they actually matter! The think they are special so they get woke and then get broke.

Seeing a post mentioning QVC reminds me of the hilarious SouthPark episode of Cartman starting his own channel to sell cheap jewelry.

Several times now I've made the mistake of tuning in too early to the Tigers radio broadcast, before the game starts, and began hearing Dan Dickerson preaching about how "we need to have a conversation about racism".

That's when I switch stations.

It's been a long long time since professional athletes were some kind of role model for youngsters, and they probably never really were. We just swallowed more of the media hype back then than we do now.

If you can get paid to specialize in a child's game, good for you. If I can escape from more serious concerns by listening or watching some broadcast, good for me. But I'm not going to tolerate the attempt to spoon feed that this country is racist and always has been. And that no progress has ever happened because, you know, I need to admit I hate non-white people.
