It may have to come to that. Were the police justified in defending themselves against Blake? Yes. Were they justified in how they did it? I don't think so. The guy is paralyzed and is probably looking at a 10-figure settlement.
Then there are the no-knock warrants. How many times have they entered the wrong house, and sometimes end up shooting/killing the occupants? Rarely have the home owners had the time to defend themselves; fewer survive, and even fewer have a successful defense in court. The modern police force is part of the standing army the Founders were afraid of.
All you need to do is let the people defend themselves, and you can reduce the police force by attrition. After all, the SCROTUS decided that they have no legal obligation to protect you. Response time in the city means they're coming to put a sheet over your corpse and make a chalk outline.
