The Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers, led by superstar LeBron James, reportedly voted to boycott the rest of the NBA playoffs.
According to Shams Charania, lead NBA writer for The Athletic, James walked out of a hastily-called players meeting when other team representatives said they would not join.
However, Mr. Charania reported, other players realize that even if just those two teams boycott the season, enormous problems would be created in finishing the playoffs.
Sources: Miamis Udonis Haslem spoke and essentially told everyone in room that without Lakers and Clippers, how will season continue? LeBron James walked out. Rest of Lakers and Clippers exited behind him, Mr. Charania wrote.
The Lakers and Clippers were the two best teams in the Western Conference during the regular season and were poised to win their first-round series in the next day or two.
However, all three of Wednesdays playoff games were cancelled after the teams, led by the Milwaukee Bucks, refused to play because of the police shooting of a Black man in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
As a result, the players on all the teams in the bubble in Orlando, Florida, held a meeting Wednesday evening to discuss the next move.
According to Mr. Charania, James wants more social activism from the owners, who already have gone in hard in supporting Black Lives Matter and other left-leaning protest groups.
LeBron James said in meeting he want owners to be more involved/take action, Mr. Charania wrote.
He also reported that players on others teams who opposed boycotting the rest of the season thought the Bucks had put them in an awkward position without advance notice.

Oh, it’s the only sport I’ll watch.
I’ve posted that I’m a fan previously...pics included.
;)
Covid couldn’t get them to cancel but criminals being dealt with was a bridge too far. Good. Now get outta my town assholes.
It’s possible that the ratings and attendance is so bad that advertisers were bailing out to such a degree that there was no financial backing?
This player strike is possibly a cover up of the serious financial troubles of the league.
Why dont they just cut to the chase and play ALL their games in China?
That’s what I liked about Julius Erving...he NEVER argued about foul calls. Ever. He said it was pointless and beneath accomplished players. Paraphrasing.
All they are doing is creating an excuse to end the season so that they can hide the low viewership resulting from their antics.
They want to do for the NBA what BLM wants to do for America; totally destroy it. For the NBA, I am all for it.
IF you refuse to show up & do your job-— have you effectively QUIT your job?
IF so do your paychecks immediately STOP?
You lso should NOT be eligible for Unemployment-—YOU QUIT.
I have been saying that the advertisers will decide what happens to pro sports. I hope many others will realize just how useless they really are. If children are not in school there is no need for extracurriculars.
No NBA? How can I *possibly* go on?
Make sure they do not get paid. That all season ticket holders get their money back or if still interested then lifetime free tickets.
Watching basketball is akin to watching paint dry.
I never know if they will score.... Too easy. They should inflate the balls like at a caravel so they have to dunk each shot. Also raise the height of the hoop.
Yawn.
Finally some good news out of the junk basketball at its finest NBA.
