I was at the Olympics in Calgary the following year and watched her win the gold medal in the Saddledome. Destroyed Debbie Thomas whose life has been a disaster ever since.
yup- years later it was revealed she was spying on teammates and reporting on them to the EG police.
Well, my family and I were cheering for the American against the communist.
Back then, the Olympics was all about freedom vs. communism, to those of us watching from home.
At the time Katerina won her Olympic gold medal, it wasn’t widely known that she had a Playboy centerfold rack on her. Notice how her costume covers up her figure.
Of course, since then, she’s made quite a lot of money off her voluptuous rack. LOLOLOL

I believe Debbie is bi-polar and won’t take her medication. My niece is bipolar and she also refuses to take her meds. It’s totally derailed her life so it’s not surprising that it’s done the same to Debbie. Debbie had a lot of talent, but there was sooooo much pressure on her in Calgary. Skating to the same music that year didn’t help. The media played up the “2 Carmens” to such a degree that I’m amazed she was able to tie her boots, never mind skate!
