I carry a Sig Sauer P238 semi-automatic. It holds 7 rounds, is small enough to carry unnoticed, is easy to rack the slide and pretty accurate. If she has no experience with guns, perhaps a revolver would be best as there are few chances for misfires. It's a good idea to go to a gun store that also has a range and allows you to rent different guns to see which ones you like best. I probably tried ten different ones before I settled on the Sig. I got the rainbow slide with the rosewood grip so it's purty, too.:o)
