A friend of mine in Juneau was an avid sea kayaker but would get harassed by sea lions literally getting in his face while paddling.
He painted the kayak bottom to resemble the belly of an orca which scared off the sea lions but attracted killer whales.

SoCal marinas (and maybe ones up north, too) hate the things because they make themselves at home where they aren’t wanted.
