I think there was a god in Ebla (North Syrian city which dates back to the 3rd millennium BC) with a name similar enough to Yahweh to think it may be the same deity.

I suspect Garfinkle is a minimalist. The idea that at the time of David and Solomon there was no worship of YaHWeH presupposes that David and Solomon did not exist. Solomon is still archaelogically barren, but evidence for 'David's Kingdom' is growing.

Also, the idea that there could be an icon of 'God' is silly; the Scripture they quote that God rode a horse (Habakkuk 3:8) doesn't convey that idea to me at all.

I have good files in my archives on Khirbet Qeiyafa but no access from this tablet. I believe the site contains a 'Solomonic gate' (i.e. also found at other sites) but it has been a while...

I had that problem with full access a few years ago. I contacted them and that solved the problem. My subscription has lapsed and the email updates just became marketing blurbs... I unsubscribed to everything... I just don't have the time. Even my FR is lagging... age... and medical issues. :^(
