Because if you return it and a new one has the same issue, all you did was waste more time than necessary.

I can’t tell you all how surprised and grateful I am for all of these responses.
I honestly had no idea there would be so many! 8)

It will be impossible for me to thank and answer every response so I will try to do so here.

Yes, I am using the same HDMI cable that I used on my other tv.
(Never had a problem)

Yes, I have the same Verizon cable box.
(Again, never had a problem)

I am using cable and not over the air.

I use the cable box to change channels, not the TV.

There is no heat in the alcove where the TV sits.

Now, as for taking it back ... my lady and I are pretty high up in age.
The TV, even though it doesn’t weigh a ton, is up in an alcove and too high for the two of us to handle in getting it down from where it sits or loaded into a vehicle.

We are going to have to find someone to pay to help us and that is why I want to try everything else before returning it.
