I’ll bet that some eternally frightened people will be wearing masks in public forever to make themselves feel “safe”-in that case, after awhile they will get no more attention than a muslim woman wearing a hijab in a store gets now-an interesting oddity, nothing more...

People out here are mostly not masking in local stores-I don’t work in the city-50 miles away but those who do mask up at stores there rather than cause a scene. I have a pack of masks in my truck, in case I need to go to a store in the next county.

I live in a big city, so I have to wear a mask in stores or on the train, but other than that I haven’t been wearing one at all. Nearly everyone else is, even if they are walking alone by themselves on an empty side street. It’s insanity.

I do have a strategy to deter the “Karens” from hassling me though. I’m a smoker, so whenever I am walking around outside without a mask, I’m usually smoking a cigarette. Can’t smoke while wearing a mask, so what are they going to say?
