“Okay, this can get difficult to follow along.”
My wife’s cousins wife has a somewhat similar experience.

This woman has three sisters. There was a forth daughter born to her parents but they were told the baby died during childbirth. The Mother always said that the baby was whisked away before she even had a chance to see the “dead” infant.

Fifty years later because of DNA tests a sibling type match showed up with the wife of my wife’s cousin. They met and it was an absolute match physically (visual) to go along with the DNA. The other girl said she was never told about being adopted, but that in her late teens she overheard an uncle tell her ‘Dad’ that he should “tell her,” but she then heard her ‘Dad’ say never.

What the current thinking is, is that the delivering Dr. made a lot of money stealing the baby for an adoption, by a well to do family, “Off the books” and then telling the mother, who was poor at that time, that the baby had died. This happened in a hospital in a northern city of the US.

Everyone who would have known about everything that happened is long dead and they took the truth with them to the grave. But those three sisters have now been reunited with the fourth.
