A downtown rally turned into violent clashes between protesters and Chicago police Saturday night, as the citys top cop blamed agitators for hijacking the demonstration and protesters blamed officers for violating their rights and blocking their march, hitting them with batons.
At least 17 officers were injured, including a cop repeatedly hit in the head with a skateboard and another officer who may have suffered a broken hand, according to Chicago police superintendent David Brown, who briefed reporters at CPD headquarters Saturday night.

***********
It was never a “rally”. It was a staging area for riots.

The "protestors" were illegally blocking streets, it appears.
Blocking streets is not a peaceful protest.

    To me its very simple.
A one-off event could be a “protest”, and continuous event that goes on day/nite after day/nite is simply NOT a protest. It is a full on attempt to disrupt the functioning of a city, for no purpose than just that - the mayhem.
If Portland or Chicago was run by the right people, “protests” would require permits and would not always be given, and certainly not given for repeats for days on end.

Haven't we heard enough about these "peaceful protests?" The only time we hear of these "protests" is when violent anarchists riot and vandalize.
 These are rioters. Period.

Since the mayor didn’t order them mowed down, they are continuing to do what they do best: assault, kill, destroy, burn.
This will continue until the election because it’s all about the election. The CV19 hysteria was about the election.

At this point, public safety is the only thing they are protesting against.

What are they demonstrating for, exactly?
 They have a D Mayor, a D city council, and a D Governor.
 Who is oppressing them?

I’ve noticed that skateboards are very popular with the ‘mostly peaceful’ protester set. But I have to ask, how was the ‘mostly peaceful’ skateboarder allowed to hit the cop the second time?

Gee, isn’t that always the case? Like it was planned or something.

It would be better if the headline read “Dozens of Rioters Dead After Clash With Police”.
