Braves owner Liberty Media disclosed the teams second-quarter financial results Monday, revealing dramatic losses that underscore the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the sports and live-events industries.
The Braves revenue plunged 95% in the April-through-June quarter, compared with the same period a year ago, falling from $208 million to $11 million. Seeing that taxpayers funded tens of billions of dollars worth of stadiums all across the fruited plain, yeah, they’re a *little* bit subsidized :-).
They fooled taxpayers into thinking that all of the jobs created by these stadiums justified the expense. Yes, a few new t-shirt stores, bars, and restaurants near a stadium are worth the billions of dollars pissed away on oversized playgrounds. Billions of dollars wasted on frigging game shows. It’s mind boggling.
How do the owners pay expensive player contracts, among other expenses, when revenues are down 95%?
When are contract renegotiations in play, if this continues?
That’s a shame.
The NBA died with the 3-Point Shot.
Yep, “get woke, go broke”...
Too bad, so sad...
I am practicing and supporting social distancing from all sports with the current exception of golf and Rodeo. Hopefully those won’t get woke.

Throw patriotic fans who have always supported you under the bus in order to woo young, woke fans who likely will NEVER support you.
That’s what you get when you stuff your marketing departments with twentysomething graduates of Leftist brainwashing universities.
I heard a young, black MLB player make his statement the other day supporting Black Lives Matter.
He actually seemed like an intelligent guy with decent motivations. And what he was calling for was much more akin to what Martin Luther King wanted than what BLM is advocating.
Obviously this guy bought into BLM based on the name and doesn’t know jack about what they actually stand for. That’s a whole lot of people apparently.
Yep.and my brother used to sell newspapers at the old Braves Field when he was a kid.
