I was living outside of philly at that time. Local LE likened the use of the explosives on MOVE (off the record, of course) to Butch Cassidy using dynamite on the train car.

As I recall, the MOVE folks had barrels of gasoline stored on the premises. Mayor Goode was a black Democrat mayor dealing with a real problem. I don't know if any present day Dem mayor, black or white, would take such action.
