Those are all valid questions, but many other countries have faced them and dealt with them. The splitting up of the Soviet Union being the most recent one. Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia also come to mind.
True, but the difference there is they were split culturally along geographical boundaries. How do you do that in these US? Even the MOST Dem States, are mostly blue except for a couple cities. Remember the "Clinton Archipelago" map?
If we cut CA off, 90% of the landmass would secede and return to these US as a new State of Jefferson. Illinois? Land of Obama? That State is entirely blue except for the dark red Chicago, and maybe a bit next to St Louis. The rest of the State is pretty solidly Repub.
And even within the cities, there's generally a sizeable Republican presence, they're just too outnumbered. Ignoring how to split FedGov assets/debts, Theere's just no physical way to separate into homogeneous areas.

My previous comment was in relation to the “bookkeeping” issues that you had brought up. The countries that I mentioned that have split up faced the same “bookkeeping” issues.
Your current comment is also a valid concern. That situation is more like that of the French and Spanish revolutionss, or even Chile, which didn’t result in the splitting up of the countries but rather the destruction of the old order or the destruction of one side.
