It is hard to draw any conclusion other than that the GOP establishment bought the “Russian interference in our democracy” hysteria.

The author is not willing to state the obvious: Many of the Repubican leadership were and are part of the Deep State. They wanted Trump out as much as most Democrats.
I feel a little differently.
I agree there were those Repubs who were tacitly “helping” and yet I also believe that many decent Pubbies, much to my surprise and alarm...BELIEVED WHAT THE FBI WAS SAYING.
I thing they thought all the info they were given by the FBI was VERIFIED.
Until things started to unravel.
