The Oxford vaccine candidate is a traditional gen 2 vaccine. It has nothing to do with mRNA. It’s like the flu shot, the MMR vaccine, and every other traditional vaccine generations have gladly taken so they don’t die or become maimed.
The Moderna vaccine candidate is a generation 3 vaccine. It encodes the instructions for SARS-CoV-2 antigens (the part of the virus that triggers immune response, but does NOT infect anything) into messenger RNA. That messenger RNA is then picked up by ribosomes (protein builders) inside cells in the body and they use the instructions to build antigens. The body perceives these antigens as an infection and builds T-cell and B-cell countermeasures.
NO DNA IS ALTERED. NO DNA IS TOUCHED. That’s not how this works. This is messenger RNA that finds a ribosome and has it build glycoproteins that the body then attacks and builds antibodies against. If SARS-CoV-2 then later infects the body, Memory B-cells and T-cells activate and immediately destroy the infection before it can do any harm.
