There are many examples of HCQ efficacy in treating covid19 ie India and many US doctors advocate its use. HCQ is safe by any measure and is even given to children. Mr. President find the recent video of doctors that strongly advocate its immediate use on the general population with dramatic results YOU Mr. President can end this pandemic in a week. don't be influenced by big Pharma. Discussions on this site in general and this topic in particular should center around what, if any, is a Free Republic's role in my health care decisions.
Instead of always on what you or I or the gov't has decided about efficacy of an already-approved, dang-near-free drug for a new potentially vital, life-saving usage.
It's long been ruled safe. And has an enormous history of usage for me to evaluate if I like. Why on God's green Earth can't I take it for the vapers if I wish - WITHOUT the gov't knowing or caring about it?
People have been scared into hopelessness and worse - into belief that continued existence and a return to normal relies entirely upon new, expensive gov't savior meds. Why not let me be a voluntary human experiment for all eyes to see and learn - let' my chips fall where they may. My choice.

Hydroxychloroquine has not been long-ruled safe. It has some major side effects. I am not a doctor, but based on the studies I have read, I would not take it myself.

Trump took it. Congressman Gohmert is about to start it. Millions of Americans take it for RA, lupus, other illnesses. Many, many millions of doses taken for many, many years globally for malaria. It’s available OTC in plenty of nations.

Why should I NOT be free to take it?
The never-Trumpers stockpiled HCQ + z-max + zinc when it was first revealed as a cure, and then worked to have it banned as a cure.

That is all I’m asking for, what once was America’s best medicine - individual freedom.

Seriously, though, speaking of following things, I’m not sure you were following my meaning. I clearly used quotes on ‘the’.
Science itself is NOT meaningless. It has many, often contradictory, meanings and leanings. That’s why simply stating that you follow ‘THE science’ is meaningless - until you explain what your interpretation of a particular science means, which differing scientist opinions you choose to believe and value, etc.
Why not just go ahead and say it is ‘settled’ science, like the global warming which killed everybody already a couple times before it created the latest cold virus to kill us all again.
Okay, thank you for the clarification. Since we have multiple double-blind studies proving that hydroxychloroquine is ineffective for treatment of COVID-19 and is potentially dangerous, then logical people (doctors and informed patients) will not use it. Uninformed patients and conspiracy theorists are welcome to take hydroxychloroquine to their hearts’ content, but they should refrain from advising others to take it.
My only point is that we all should be welcome/able to, but we aren't.

I'm not sure what 'conspiracy' I'm a part of, other than the conspiracy to be individually free in my life decisions which don't affect you.
Do you ever consider that folks should also refrain from advising others to NOT take something which millions take safely for several reasons already, which anyone can afford and which many docs/scientists say works well in preventing vulnerable people becoming hospitalized or dead due to this latest version of a cold virus - for which you have not offered alternative remedy?
