Not to defend Stelter, but he had no knowledge of the settlement amount or any confidential info about it. He was speculating. Sure, he was speculating low and scrambling for momentary political value, but he wasn’t acting on behalf of the network and he wasn’t revealing any knowledge, because he didn’t have any.
That said, I hope he gets canceled for being a general schmuck. I don’t care what excuse they use. These aren’t normal, moral times.
Or maybe discovery will determine that he did have knowledge.
