Makos primarily operate like giant bluefish, and are tail section choppers.
A mako will grab another shark or tuna or swordfish, in the tapered body section just before the tail and lock on until that section is cut off, and the target immobilized
The way this woman was attacked from below and driven up out of the water, suggests more than likely it was a white.

(Typical of the so-called “mainstream media”, the reports on radio/tv & in the print media have been MOSTLY comments about how very savage, though unusual, that shark attacks are.)
What you posted about the this fatal attack certainly sounds like an “ambush attack” by a GW.
