By the way, I looked it up. I wasn’t a plane accident. Howard was on the way to Portugal, and his plane was shot down by the Germans.

And Portugal was an interesting destination. The place was full of spies during WW II, both Axis and Allied.

Dang it. My post #42 contains an inaccuracy. Howard was not flying to Portugal. He was flying from Portugal, back to the UK. And that’s when the Germans shot him down.

The airplane he was on was shot down by the Luftwaffe. All aboard were killed.
