Olivia de Havilland, the delicate beauty and last remaining star of Gone With the Wind who received her two acting Oscars after helping to take down Hollywoods studio system with a landmark legal victory in the 1940s, died Sunday. She was 104.
De Havilland died of natural causes at her home in Paris, where she had lived for more than 60 years, publicist Lisa Goldberg announced.

I liked her performance in Airport 77, lol.
Its worth noting that this wonderful lady also pitched in during WW II. From Wikipedia:
In December 1943 de Havilland joined a USO tour that traveled throughout the United States and the South Pacific, visiting wounded soldiers in military hospitals. She earned the respect and admiration of the troops for visiting the isolated islands and battlefronts in the Pacific.
She survived flights in damaged aircraft and a bout with viral pneumonia requiring several days’ stay in one of the island barrack hospitals. She later remembered, “I loved doing the tours because it was a way I could serve my country and contribute to the war effort.”
A friend of mine who was a Gone with the Wind fan wrote Olivia deHavilland a letter in the late 70s. She received a very gracious response.

In 1981, I was 18. I became a big fan of Gone With The Wind.
I wrote Ms. Olivia DeHavilland and she sent me her photo with the words, “Thank you, so glad you like my work.” The card is still with me. Great performer, wonderful human.
May Olivia rest in peace.
I can't even keep up with them all. Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac, Eddie Shack the hockey player and that smooth talking guy who did that Who Wants To Be A Millionaire series. And that one guy who was in the movie whose name I can't remember.
The dying never seems to stop.
A class act...from whom all of Hollywood could learn a lot.
I liked her as Libby Custer in They Died with Their Boots On.
She outlived her co-star of many movies Errol Flynn by 60 years.
A truly sad day. RIP Ms. Havilland. Thank you for the memories.
The Last of a True Golden Age.
RIP
I guess the saddest part of her passing was that she never reconciled with her sister.
Always the first pick in Howie Carrs death pool. For the past 20 years.

And cousin to Geoff DeHavilland, aviation designer pioneer, father of the DeHavilland Mosquito, one of the most formidable airplanes of WW2.
Reminds me of a story about a women that was born in 1861 and died in 1970 at 109, she remembered her parents taking her to watch Abraham Lincoln's funeral procession and lived long enough to see the first moon landing. It most have seemed like waking up in science fiction movie...
interesting. I was watching another video last night be Dark Journalist talking about another beauty, Yvonne DiCarlo and her relationship to another aviation pioneer named Howard Hugh
Amazing woman and amazing health.
Time to get a three wheeler bike :-)
Olivia deHavilland was simply the epitome of a lady. She was beautiful, tasteful, elegant, and well spoken with a voice like honey. She was the last of her kind, and though its not an unexpected loss, it is a very great one.
She also fought against the Communists in Hollywood in the 40s and 50s. This article will probably show up behind a paywall, but its a very interesting piece where she talks about being involved in an industry group that turned out to be a front group for Communists and how she enlisted the help of a friend from Warner Brothers that she thought might be like-minded. That friend was Ronald Reagan. https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB115757993223555601
Scarlett is now free to go after Ashley but like a woman does, she changed her mind and decided she loves her hubby after all!
But Rhett, who once adored her frankly now does not give a damn.
Don’t that beat all?
RIP
With sister Joan Fontaine
