Not at all. You have to consider the recipient or audience. In this instance, he had to put it into a scenario that the questioner could grasp. It's like trying to explain something to a small child, it simply needs to placed into a context using the simplest words possible. Sometimes that means using more words and taking longer. But if it gets the point across, task accomplished.
