Friend just stated they had alot of missing items he wanted
Stockers have been call offs here too. NA on the assignment sheets. Lack of enthusiasm. Isles not fully worked.
I lived overseas for 25 years. What I missed most is the USA, having lived in dictatorships, far left socialist and/or military-run countries. Every time I could I would drive or walk to the nearest US Embassy just to see the flag flying. There is no country that comes even close to our country as a nation where true freedom exists. If you disagree or are now a terrorist trying to tear it all down while disrespecting our flag and history, please go immediately to the nearest commie/socialist country of your choice and stay there.
Yeah, there was a Walmart “Neighborhood store” near me when I was in living in Chicago.
Not worth the hassle to go there.
THAT is more the kind of thing I expect to hear when missing the USA, not mere merchandising.
Yours is ALSO the kind of statement I expect when speaking of missing something.
Kudos, and totally agree with your last sentiments.
Why stay here if its beyond redemption? Just leave!
I can only imagine their reaction when they come here to Texas and see a Buc-ees.
One key difference in the WalMart model compared to other stores before is that they don’t have to build in the midst of population centers; the land is expensive. If they build miles away people will travel to get to the WalMart.
They built one in my town years ago; land is expensive here (about a dozen miles west of Manhattan in NJ) because it has been continuously developed since the Dutch arrived in the 17th century. WalMart put up a store in the Meadowlands, where the marsh and contamination would make building homes unrealistic. It is a magnet for shoppers from Newark and Jersey City; always packed, with a huge grocery section.

[Hey, I like WM OK, but its not all that. I agree with buying cheap stuff for our son because they change sizes etc every year, but beyond that, big deal.]
Yes I kind of appreciate that principle. No doubt.
But again, America has been the land of plenty...exhibited by stores for a century or more....long before Wal-Mart came around.
My concern is always that snobby Euros will simply declare our places cheap and low-quality, as they like to see us. Of course, to an extent, that is true with these cheap stores. E.g., I know from years of experience what is worth buying at WM and what is not.
Hi Y’all.
Come down to Florida and see Florida man and the ubiquitous strip mall. Has everything you need...
Pawn shop, liquor store, convience store and yes, a strip club (a “gentleman’s” club).
One on every corner.

Oh they probably have same things. But not as many.
My parents were not impressed.
You should check out this English couple on YouTube. They are funny comparing American and UK stuff. One film they did was specifically going to Wal-Mart while in the US. Funny. And the woman got absolutely hooked on some chips. Cant recall which.
Had never seen all the Walmart tourist videos, funny and interesting. Thanks for posting that link.
Well, there is contamination there; north of it is capped landfills from which they extract gas, but I couldn’t imagine it would be safe to build because of those gases. Just a little north of that (by Giants Stadium) is protected wetlands (a saltwater marsh).
Many years ago it was dry (real grassy “meadows”), but a hurricane in the 1950s broke the dike wall keeping back the Hackensack River and the meadows were flooded. It is eerie at low tide to see the masses of tree stumps across the mudflats...
When I retire I will live abroad. Money goes farther in other countries.
