“Class disruptions became daily events and soon no one was learning because the increasingly outrageous, rude, disrespectful behavior by some black students.”

I’ve seen this with my own eyes. I now sub at a semi-rural school I taught at for many years. Two years ago, two black families with maybe 12 kids between them moved into the district and changed the character of the whole school. People who aren’t teachers have no idea one or two kids can disrupt a classroom and make it impossible for the teacher to teach or the children to learn.

The fights can be and are dealt with. It’s all of the loud disruptive behavior short of a fight that wears everyone down. And of course the black kids who were perfectly fine before the families moved in started emulating the new kids. It was terrible. And we lost a couple of families of good kids who had the means to escape the hell their kids classrooms had become.

As you say, the teachers’ jobs become more crowd controller than teacher. Happily in my school’s case, the two families moved away after about a year and several visits to the home by the sheriff’s office. As soon as they left, the school returned to what it had been before. As a public school, we have to take every kid in the district, and it doesn’t take all that much to change the school for the worse.

The school in my area had a police Student Resource Officer and 15 security daily. At their lunches there was a second police officer. The fights were generally broken up quickly. But I agree with you that the loud disruptive behavior wears everyone down. Endless constant challenges to your authority over nothing (Lamarian, could you take your seat elicits, Bit**: you always fuckin with me, I ain’t taking no dam* seat, f u, and much much worse). Schools were built and designed to teach the civilized who had some level of self control, not to struggle with those who are openly aggressive and verbally assaulting their teachers.

And the level of control these kids have over peers is upsetting. They stop the other black kids from learning because that makes them sell outs and the harass and bully the white, hispanic, and asian kids who want to learn and cooperate.

Somehow this is all white peoples fault.
