“No women aboard ship, and our working uniform was dungarees and chambray shirts.”
Boondockers. Comfortable.
I always felt that making the transition from the Dixie cup, bellbottoms, Boondockers and chambray shirts As a working uniform was a mistake. They were not only distinctive, they were comfortable.
I joined up right around the time they made that change, and I thought the working utilities were kind of stupid.
Even stupider in my opinion whats the transition to the idiotic camouflage utilities they wear now. The ones that have that blue tinge to them Whats that supposed to do? If you fall overboard into the ocean, is it supposed to make you harder to see?
I think it wouldve been more sensible to have people wear coveralls than to wear those things.
