Yep. Same thing happened to me. Tight chest and itchy mouth and throat, flushed. I panicked. Not fun.
I hate that little weasel. Covid should have been treated like any other flu. IMO
All the employees who are not out with COVID (about 5) were tested at my department, 600+. I guess they wanted to see who might have it but were asystematic. One of the higher ups said they estimated that 20 to 25% would come back positive. Only one person tested positive.
From all the responses to this thread and your search of stories, apparently no one who hasn’t been tested ever gets a negative return ... on the test that didn’t happen.
Here’s a couple more via twitter... though ‘45 minutes’ seems to be a common theme involved.

A friend of mine went to the health clinic to get tested. Signed in but after 45 minutes gave up and went home. He received a letter in the mail today saying he was positive for Corona. That test is so amazing, you don’t even have to actually get it.

Thurs, 1555, 23 July 2020:
Just told by two friends they registered for & went to a drive-thru CV test 2 weeks ago. After 45 minutes in line, left for dog’s Vet appt. No test sample taken of either person.
In today’s mail, they received “test result: positive for Covid-19.”
Somebody has told the states they need to have a quota which indicates positive results no matter what.
Someone needs to email this info to Trump, @ White House.gov!!! Trump NEEDS TO investigate this CRAP!!!
Good chance the test kits are manufactured in China.
China would have a vested interest in trying to make POTUS Trump look bad with contaminated test kits.
You know the old saying, “if you can receive a mail-in ballot then you tested positive”.
