LEGACY OF HOPE by Jon McNaughton
I have been discouraged by the times in which we livea battered economy, a confusing pandemic, civil unrest, riots, and the blind rage of those who seek to destroy our country. Whats even more troubling, is that many in the mainstream media have seemingly joined forces with those who are actively (and seditiously) trying to burn America to the ground.
While thinking about these things, the White House released a photographa photograph that gave me hope.
The photograph shows a group of black religious and political leaders, surrounding President Trump and praying for himpraying for the nation. To say that this image inspired me would be an understatement. Here stood a group of men and womenAmericanspraying for God to help President Trump!
It was a photograph of faith and hope for the future.
And as I thought about that hope, I couldnt help but think about our HISTORYour legacy of hope. Contrary to what some might tell you, the United States didnt begin in 1619, with the first importation of slaves. The United States has a specific birthdateit began in 1776. It began when we not only declared our independence from a system that introduced slavery to the New World, but our country also began when we declared that all men and women are created equal.
From that day forward, great men and womenpeople like George Washington, Harriet Tubman, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Frederick Douglasshave risen up and have fought and died to ensure that this nation lives up to its founding creed.
As Americans, we share a legacy of hope that should never be forgotten.
Graceful reconciliation after the Civil War?
That’s Ike? I was wondering how Bill O’Reilly made it into the painting.
Graceful reconciliation after the Civil War?
Exactly. Lee brought the war to an end and spent the rest of his life working to reunite the country. He was urged by many to not surrender but devolve the armies into guerrilla forces and carry on with the war. If Lee had chosen this path things would have turned out much differently.
What i love about it is that there are no bushes in it.
Very back left looks like Andrew Breitbart
Yes
I am wondering if we have a couple McNaughton’s hanging in our local court room. Can anyone show me to a compilation of McNaughton’s paintings? I couldn’t find such a site.
Is that Andrew Breitbart I see at the left edge of the painting?
Thank you for that.
You’re right! It IS Breitbart!!
I loved that guy, and cried when he died.
Doubtful, McNaughton mentions in the painting's description by saying everyone shown is either a religious or political leader.
What’s Kennedy doing there? Trying for bipartisan?
That was a sad day.
