I have been feeling very down about the situation that the crazy left has put our country in. I was feeling that this could be the worst of times for us as a nation. Then I got a dose of reality when my wife and I decided to take a ride to Washingtons Crossing. As we were wandering through on the Pa. side of the Delaware I started to liven up. When we got into the museum I really came alive. And when I saw one of Thomas Paine's quotes I was sort of embarrassed at my depression that is caused by our current status. We have all heard it but it somehow gets forgotten. It reads: "These are times that try men's souls, the summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; But he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman". That was enough to renew my faith in our fellow patriots that we will get through these times.
You should quote his whole speech.
Quite inspirational.
Great post! Thanks for this.
Yes! This is psy ops!! Dont go wobbly on us!
I was a little depressed and have never been near wobbly. I was trying to say that most if not all of us have our times of doubt.
Oh, no accusation implied!
Just a general statement for all of us to stand firm etc
You cant imagine how livid I am. But Im so burned out on 4 mos of virus hysteria, and 2 mos of rioting and insults, that Im not quite as angry and more like you. The depression settles in.
Washington was the greatest.
That reminds me - these damned poltroons trying to bring down our nation would be bringing down his monuments too.
Amen!
There were no guarantees in WWII either.
A loss of morale and hope then and the Axis might have buried us.
But perseverance is a powerful bridge across those dark canyons.
Thanks!
Yes, there are days when all this garbage settles on the soul. I find it’s also the isolation. Conservative women are few and far between around here, family is spread out geographically, and zoom meetings just don’t make up for it. We aren’t sitting at home all the time - just too much of it.
Yep, I agree. Seems there should be something we could do about it...but, what that makes sense?
I am currently reading Brian Kilmeade’s The Alamo Avengers. At this point in the story, where I am, there is no way one could see a victory for the Texaians. But ...
I’m waiting for the first tar & feathers party for some of our local, petty tyrants. We’re getting close.
Youre in PA...do you refer to PA or to FR? Conservative woman here...but Im in liberal central MD.
It sure doesnt help with all this nonsense shutting us in.
There are conservative women on FR, for sure! SE Pa has a lot of libs, especially the women. Some keep politics out of conversation but others are strident. I can do without the latter.
