Maybe. All I know is the Pirates found themselves in a major legal battle with this schmuck bar owner because they did not do something properly.

Another example is the old Canadian Football League franchise that played in Baltimore for a few years. They were going to call themselves the Colts. A couple of days before opening kickoff the NFL managed to get an injunction against that. They were called the Baltimore CFL’s for their first year and eventually became the Stallions.
