Foster Mackenzie III, 48, widely known as Root Boy Slim, a raunchy rock-and-roll musician whose songs satirized popular culture while pressing the limits of outrageousness, died at his home in Orlando, Fla.

The cause of death is being investigated, but a spokesman for the Orlando coroner's office said he appeared to have died between Tuesday night and yesterday morning of natural causes.

Died naturally, at 48.

We used to go see root boy slim and the sex change band (with the fabulous rootettes) in the late sixties and early seventies.
They played around DC a lot.
If that obit is current - his age is wrong.
