Three best friends were found slain in a “horrific scene” at a Florida lake after one of them called his father for help, authorities said.
Damion Tillman, 23, Keven Springfield, 30, and Brandon Rollins, 27, had planned to go night fishing Friday at Lake Streety in Frostproof, about 70 miles south of Orlando, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Grady Judd said they believe Tillman arrived first at the lake to go out on a catfish expedition.
When Rollins and Springfield arrived, they saw Tillman being beaten and were shot by one or more of his attackers, authorities said.
Rollins was still conscious when the assailants left and called his father, begging, “Help,” according to Judd.
His dad rushed to the lake about 10 minutes away but forgot his cellphone in a scramble to help his son.
“When I got there, I was looking for my son. It was a mess,” his father, Cyril Rollins, told TV news station WFLA.
“I found my son. I was holding him. He was telling me what happened, but I was too shocked to know what was going on.”
The father drove to a nearby convenience store, where the clerk called 911.
But by the time help arrived, all three men had died from their injuries, authorities said.

Dad did not :
1: call 911 on his cell phone (so ambulance and police arrive before him)
2: call 911 from sons cell phone !
Walked up on something they weren’t supposed to see.................. I was there a couple of times, drug central if you ask me. Not a place to be at night, and don’t bother stopping at the bars there if you drive through.

The ‘worst’ in me is saying drug deal gone bad.
I realize kid probably had his fathers # on speed dial but one would think if the kid described the scene to his father that he would have called 911 IF the scene was relayed to him BEFORE he got there AND even if he did call dad first, think 911 next if ALL above board.
Like stumbling on a crime scene and call your lawyer and wife and son then call 911, probably nothing nefarious but .....

Might’ve been locked - I couldn’t get into my kids’ phones if I had to under those circumstances.
totally agree that that’s odd but..it could be that the father a) didn’t know the code to the son’s phone b) the son’s phone’s battery was dead c) the perps stole the son’s phone.
