I think wherever one lives becomes “the world” after a while. It’s the norm. My sister-in-law taught 3rd grade at a school right outside of NYC on L.I. I taught at a semi rural school in MO. We’d compare notes. She took her kids on a field trip to see cows—they’d never seen them before. I took my kids on a trip where they were in awe of 13 story building and an elevator ride.

the hotel room had no AC’s, the sweet rented mountain chalet house i moved into two days later had no AC, the restaurants had no AC we were sweating our butts off!
I asked a local why no AC’s?
His reply was we don’t do no AC’s here in the State of Vermont.
We went to the movie theater more than a few times that week.
I can not really object though, probably not often Vermont gets a week of 100 degree weather...

I’m loving it less and less, but it is beautiful and I have a unique situation. That said we live in a rain forest. The humidity levels get very high so temps above 95 can get oppressive without AC.
