Same here. I’ve only ever had 1 Ford and it was a lemon. I’m not into $30k second chances.
I had a 2003 Ranger XLT and it did good by me.
My project K5 will stay. No new computers on wheels again if I can help it.
I’ve never owned a bad Ford truck. I had two Rangers over the years which never died, I had to give one of them away.
The best vehicle I ever had was a Ford AND the worst vehicle I ever had was a Ford. I had a Ford Escape for 10 years, put over 150,000 hard miles on it and never had one mechanical issue and never did one single thing to it other than oil changes and other regular maintenance. But back in late 1990's I bought a Ford Taurus station wagon, first new car I ever owned. Nothing but problems, spent as much time in the shop as on the road (thankfully under warranty). In three years it blew two head gaskets, the transmission went out, the power steering failed, and alternator died. As soon as my warranty ran out I traded that lemon in as fast as possible.
I currently have a Range Rover, more expensive than the Escape, but it's five years old and hasn't had any issues with it either.
Interestingly, we bought a brand new full size Bronco in 1980 and it was one of the biggest lemons we’ve ever owned. The dash pad and driver’s seat material cracked the first year as well as the battery going worthless. The front driveshaft spline wore out the second year as well as the timing chain. The engine had a loose piston at 42,000. It was serviced as recommended by Ford and never off-roaded.
I was always a GM fan then bought a Ford F-150 back in 96. Only thing I’ve had since is Fords. Got a 2008 F250 I won’t part with and a 2019 Escape for the wife.
Bronco looks pretty good to me but I’ll keep the F250.
I drive a ten-year old Escape and it's been a great vehicle. Before that I had an Explorer for nine years and was very satisfied. Curious about this new Bronco...
It took me three Ford lemons to realize what crap they were. But I was in high school at the time. I've been buying new vehicles since 1973 and I have always steered clear of Ford.
My 2005 Ford Ranger 4x4 manual trans with 220K on it and still going strong disagrees...
