Its a difficult part of managing any organization but you simply cannot allow unreliable and conflicted people to remain in positions where they can undermine you because if you do they will. You have to make such moves without delay.
Staffing is probably the most important thing a manager does. It can make or break you.
Almost anyone is a better choice than someone who feels no sense of loyalty or purpose that is aligned with your goals. I really hate to say it because I sympathize deeply with Trump’s dilemma but we are all paying the price for what has turned out to be a mistake of epic proportions.
Having spent his whole life in the business world, I don’t think Trump really understood the intensity of political currents and the associated machinations. Politics is blood sport.

He did. He swam through the waters of the vicious NYC pols. But he went to DC and had no friends there. That’s not a fixable problem for an outsider which President Trump is.
I agree with everything you say. It’s far too much to even go into on this board. There’s simply no way to cover everything that’s involved.
I am not sure myself if Trump DIDN’T know what he was up against, or if he DID know how badly he was needed and acted anyway. The Dems are using viral warfare and national riots! Things are already WAY worse than I think almost anyone could have seen.
As I said, he could have gone to the Virginia Military Institue for loyalty and patriotism, and he would have got it. People CAN learn on the job. But, America is not at all alone in the world and not the least secure, inside or out. Neophytes, however well intentioned, would be crucified.
I give Trump credit for not being nailed to that cross yet.
