Where the Hell Is John Durham?
American Greatness ^ | 9 Jul, 2020 | Julie Kelly

Trump has every right to be enraged that four years after Barack Obama’s top henchmen concocted and executed the biggest political scandal of all time, not one person has been held criminally responsible while trials against his associates drag on.

In May 2019, Attorney General William Barr made an announcement millions of Americans had been waiting for: A U.S. attorney outside the Beltway would investigate the corrupt origins of the FBI’s probe into Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and government efforts to sabotage the incoming president after he was elected.

For the past 14 months, we have been waiting (impatiently, I confess) for news from John Durham, the Connecticut prosecutor Barr tapped to lead the long-delayed inquiry. After all, by the time the attorney general initiated the targeted probe, there was plenty of evidence of wrongdoing by top officials in the Obama Administration, including James Comey, John Brennan, and Andrew McCabe among others. Special Counsel Robert Mueller had wrapped up his two-year partisan witch hunt and despite unlimited resources—along with the unflinching support of Republicans on Capitol Hill—Barack Obama’s former FBI director could find no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.

“Barr was never going to indict anybody without the support of the beltway GOP.”

Barr said it’s Durham’s call so I don’t know that to be the case. If indictments are filed and announced next month, I guess folks will be back to complain it’s not enough.

Just the way it is. I’m not surrendering an inch. Fight on to November!
President Trump gets re-elected and then watch how he hits the gas pedal.

“Durham, under pressure to wrap up investigation, could ‘punt’ to after Election Day”

Could be a misdirection play. If a couple of indictments hit sooner by end of next month we’ll know.

I believe that DC is a lot different politically speaking than NYC. Its a world of big power, big institutions and big money. Its the major leagues of politics. Trump was playing in the minors for a long time and wasn’t ready for the intensity of big league play IMO. (We can agree to disagree on that point.)

He knew there was a Swamp but even HE has admitted on several occasions that he didn’t realize how deep and vast it really was. I’m thankful he became president and having worked in DC can appreciate the resistance he’s facing. Its a big time problem for him and, as an outsider, it will continue to be. Trust me, DC is a vicious place.

He will show up on November 4th and declare that he spent $72 million dollars of taxpayer money and found nothing. But then he will by a nice house in the hamptons.

For the record I always thought Durham was a Deep Stater. Also Barr. They are pretending to investigate to save the reputation of the FBI and DOJ.

Is he still in the Ukraine interviewing folks?

Maybe aliens abducted him.

WE the People tend to get our hopes dashed all too frequently.

I agree with everything you say. It’s far too much to even go into on this board. There’s simply no way to cover everything that’s involved.

I am not sure myself if Trump DIDN’T know what he was up against, or if he DID know how badly he was needed and acted anyway. The Dems are using viral warfare and national riots! Things are already WAY worse than I think almost anyone could have seen.

As I said, he could have gone to the Virginia Military Institue for loyalty and patriotism, and he would have got it. People CAN learn on the job. But, America is not at all alone in the world and not the least secure, inside or out. Neophytes, however well intentioned, would be crucified.

I give Trump credit for not being nailed to that cross yet.

Trump’s tears are lost on me here.

Mine as well.

The acting enraged and twitter shtick is tiresome, yet highly effective on those looking to him as their savior.

I cannot believe how the majority of conservatives are so blind and brainwashed.

I promise you and everyone that I gave him more chances than I should have.

“He knew there was a Swamp but even HE has admitted on several occasions that he didn’t realize how deep and vast it really was.”

Who could? Everyone is learning how bad it is and each day there’s new stories on how bad The Swamp actually is.

They are viciously protecting the looting and betrayal of the country. They’ve been at it for decades.

Re: “Trump has every right to be enraged...”

Until Trump explains why he lets the FBI, DOJ, Intelligence Community, and State Department block every request and subpoena for documents that can exonerate him, he has NO right to be enraged about anything.

Trump can declassify and publish any document in the Executive Branch of government.

Instead, there are at least fifty lawsuits against the Trump Administration trying to obtain documents that Trump and his appointees refuse to release.

And when they do release some, they are massively redacted.

Worse than inexplicable.

Politically insane!

I must admit that, having worked in DC, I’m surprised at the rapid rise of corruption and the intensity of liberal hatred toward Trump in particular, and Republicans in general.

DC has been a leftist haven for a long time but there were always lines they were reluctant to cross. All those lines are gone now.

Most of their aggression of late, in my opinion, is the result of Republican weakness and appeasement. If you were a Democrat would you have any respect for, or fear of, Republicans? In the absence of such restraint there is no reason for them to moderate their aggression or hold back. Its open season on us because the GOP allowed it to happen.

President Trump was hitting hard on the lack of action. He blasted everyone and it’s no accident you hear next to nothing from GOPe Republicans. They want him to lose.

President Trump on Twitter:
“We have a totally corrupt previous Administration, including a President and Vice President who spied on my campaign, AND GOT CAUGHT...and nothing happens to them. This crime was taking place even before my election, everyone knows it, and yet all are frozen stiff with fear....”

After “living” in WDC for 30+ years as a private practice psychologist (before escaping) my cynicism remains pegged about the integrity of all but a few politicians and their “operatives”. Pox on them.
