I think you will find that most of this debt is for courses that include the word “studies.” The debt is not for degrees that offer the recipient a decent job. I recall listening to a girl with piercings and a partially shaved head complain about the several hundred thousand in debt she got for her degree in gender studies. No one would hire her.
I believe the total plan is:
1. Eliminate all student loan debt, about $1.3 trillion.
2. Stop federal government backing of student loans.
3. Give tax protection to universities to force them to make student loans.
4. Allow discharge of student loans in bankruptcy.
This will force universities to create degree programs that result in employment of students and stop the Women’s Studies crap.
