There was a thread a while ago on FR that was about an article that had science based reasons the porn epidemic post 2006 or so is particularly bad for society.

The ability to see whatever you want in video wherever you go has only been around commonly circa 2006. Portable electronic media that allows this is very new compared to the printed word, paintings, pictures, or film. I think it probably changes the brain much more and differently than what was available before. I suspect this will become more apparent to society as time passes and the people who have grown up with these conditions come into power.

Mark Steyn contends that feminism could only have been invented by 12 year old boys, as it delivers everything theyve dreamed of...
That applies to many other areas of life as well.
Christians today, or those who call themselves Christians, are so lukewarm.
End of discussion.
Thanks for posting this. I was telling someone about the just yesterday and had no idea how to find the source article.
>> I think it DOES have an impact on the sexual attitudes and expectations of young people.
Teen Vogue is telling junior high girls that Sex Work is legitimate work, there is no shame in being a cam porn star from home.
>>epidemic post 2006 or so is particularly bad for society.
The pandemic lockdown of 2020 is horrible for society. Suicide, alcoholism, and overdose have gone up up up. Depression is also on the rise as is isolation and domestic abuse.
The mental health impact is far greater than the lung health impact.
And, the failure of the clergy to stand up for what they preach. They folded like a wet paper bag over this virus crap.
Porn ended my cousin’s marriage to one of the church deacons.
Yeah no. Bigger threats just off top of my head: abuse by priests, BLM, Democrats, Pope, etc.
Pope Francis, the communist impostor is the biggest threat to Today’s Church.
It’s interesting to see some of the responses on this thread.
Many of them bring up matters which they say are bigger threats to the church than pornography is.
Perhaps I’m missing the point , but why are so many people bringing up other things, as if to say we need to be concerned with these other matters instead as greater threats?
One out of five? Is that the proportion who admit it, or is there some other source for that figure?
Looks like a good book. I will check it out. Thanks for posting.
Where is that Free Will they talk about?
No not Free Willy.
“Pornography?
“Ever been to the Louvre?”
Not what the article is talking about. Did you read it?
Truly. Some responses on this thread have been pretty predictable.
One of the most common is "But what about these GREATER ISSUES" (accompanied by a sweeping gesture), which demonstrates avoidance of God's requirement for personal, individual purity and responsibility. It reminds me of Christ's conversation with the woman at the well. She wanted to talk about locations of worship (abstract, "greater" issues), He wanted to steer the conversation back to her own personal responsibility.
It all starts with the individual.
I wonder how many men out there, who would otherwise be in satisfactory (if not wildly happy) marriages, have been detoured by pornography. Plain Jane who lives a modest life is no match for Video Vixen or Centerfold Cathy.
“Pornography? Ever been to the Louvre? The Picasso Museum? Churches in Europe but, particularly, the Vatican? Any Museum? Sistine Chapel?”
Do you really think the pornography available on the Internet is no worse than the nudity seen in those places?
There is no comparison.
I never said it was a good thing.
