Defund the Police? How About We Defund the Universities
pjmedia.com ^ | Jul 07, 2020 | Philip Carl Salzman

Our universities have nurtured and foisted on America and Canada an extreme radicalism that vilifies American and Canadian history, society, and culture. This radicalism stems in the first instance from identity grievance studies programs, such as feminist and gender studies, gay and queer studies, black studies, Hispanic and Chicano studies, indigenous studies, and ethnic studies, which have adopted marxist theories popular in sociology and political science.

This far left ideology has diffused throughout the soft subjects of the social sciences, humanities, education, social work, and law. Far left radicalism has been adopted with enthusiasm by administrators and imposed on any laggard or dissenting students and professors by the many “diversity and inclusion” commissars whose salaries could have funded many scholarships and professorships in STEM fields.

Of what does this extreme radicalism consist? Substantively, it claims that America and Canada are evil, beginning life in sin as slave owners and colonial settlers who engaged in genocide, and continuing on those paths until today. But even in this theory all Americans and Canadians are not evil: only whites, males, heterosexuals, and Christians and Jews are evil oppressors. Females, people of color, LGBT+, indigenous natives, and Muslims, in contrast, are virtuous victims, and deserve to take the reins of control.

Universities have instituted policies that provide preferences and benefits, such as admissions, funding, and professorial and administrative posts, for females, people of color, LGBT+, indigenous natives, and Muslims, while sidelining, marginalizing, or entirely blocking white males, heterosexuals, and Christians and Jews. East Asian Americans and Canadians are sidelined and blocked, not because they are evil, but because they are too successful, thus taking places and resources that universities prefer to give to others.

We actually should do far far more than just defund them. The universities are where the disease of marxism is coming from, and left un-checked it will destroy America. They're using our rights to freedom to annihilate our freedom. This must be stopped and our govt politician class is not up to the job.

Simple, (but hard to do,) defund all social programs. From those in Education to Welfare. Eliminate the department of education. Eliminate the requirement of a teaching credential.

Good idea!

The only way that has any chance of happening is if we take to the streets in large enough numbers, put pressure on the politicos, like the left pushes its agenda.

Sadly, we’re just not as good about putting the fear of God in our politicos.

I think if the government simply said that the max yearly loan amount will not exceed $10k a year, and actually set the pay-back schedule in front of the kid on day one of graduation...you’d change the whole game real quick.

I’d even make it interesting and let the engineer and science kids get the $15k a year loan because I’d be confident in their ability to get a decent job and pay the money back in ten to fifteen years.

That’s not enough. We must defund public schools, as well. Uneducated children are far less damaging to the Republic than MALeducated ones.

Stop the Dept of ED loans and third-party loans that pay Big Education for tuition, etc. If Big Ed wants to allow loans to students, the loan must be made and guaranteed by the college/university being attended. This will do two things:
a) Big Ed now has a vested interest in their product,
b) attendance will drop forcing Big Ed to only support degree plans that produce graduates that can pay back the loan.

Say goodbye to worthless ‘studies’ and ‘diversity’ degree plans and the communists that teach them.

I’ve been wanting absolutely no fed $ including student loans and Pell grants to all univerities and state colleges for a long, long time.

Separation of school and state.

And get rid of the DoE while we’re at it. I recently learned that it started with Jimmeh Carter. It needs to get the boot.
