Your opinion.

Trump’s feigned animosity towards Sessions is another obvious example.

And if Barr as you think is a bad guy, Trump sure is stupid to have hired him and keep him on.

Poroshenko, Leshchenko and Sytnik: the history of Ukraine’s intervention in the US election

[AS TRANSLATED]

Today, it became known from the films of the People’s Deputy Andrei Derkach that the ex-president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko discussed with the former vice president of the United States Joe Biden the head of the campaign headquarters of Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election Paul Manafort.

During a telephone conversation, Poroshenko said one phrase that could cost Biden the entire presidential race, as well as serve as the beginning of an investigation into Ukraine’s interference in the electoral process with the support of the Democratic Party.

According to Poroshenko, taking Advisor Yanukovych Manfort to Trump’s team was a bad idea: “And one more thing, just as a joke. We published documents of the former Party of Regions. As I understand it, one of Mr. Trump’s key advisers, Paul Manafort, resigned today ... As for me, it was a bad idea to take Advisor Yanukovych to Trump’s team. ”

Poroshenko clearly said: we published. This is important, as it can be evidence that it was Poroshenko who led the intervention operation.

We will be back in May 2016. Then the former People’s Deputy Sergei Leshchenko published material on the “black bookkeeping” of the Party of Regions, on the basis of which the total cost of political needs of the Yanukovych clan settled to more than $ 66 million. The materials also turned out to be the name of Paul Manafort.

The publication of the barn book became an information bomb, due to which Paul Manafort was imprisoned in June 2018. He was punished with 7.5 years imprisonment for banking and tax fraud and conspiracy against the United States because of his lobbying activities.

At the same time, the criminal case against Manafort almost cost Donald Trump the entire election campaign. However, he managed to survive this storm.

The most interesting thing is that Sergey Leshchenko was very glad that he had published “black bookkeeping” of the Party of Regions. He was confident that this document would ruin Trump’s political career. And in August 2016, Leshchenko wrote a post on his Facebook page, in which he said that “after this blow, Trump will not recover.” But Trump won and Leshchenko hastily deleted his post.

It is still unknown where Leshchenko got the barn book. According to one version, the director of NABU Artem Sytnik handed him a book, as he was in collusion with representatives of the Democratic Party. Coincidentally, almost immediately after the publication of “black bookkeeping”, the former people’s deputy was able to buy elite housing in the center of Kiev worth 300 thousand dollars.

In addition, Leshchenko was not only one of the tools for displaying sensitive information, he was also one of those who collected incriminating evidence.

Before the US presidential election in 2016, a private research company Fusion GPS, together with former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele, drew up a dossier on Trump. At the same time, the American media noted that the investigation against Trump was sponsored by the US Democratic National Committee and the campaign headquarters of Hillary Clinton.

Steele collected information about Trump at the request of his political opponents. However, then, left without customers, the ex-intelligence officer continued to work for free, because he believed that the data he received was of interest to the intelligence services of the United States and Great Britain and were important for ensuring the national security of America

In January 2017, it became known that the author of the dossier handed over documents to a number of persons, in particular, the FBI, in order to find confirmation of the information he received on the relations of the American president with Russia.

One of the main sources of Christopher Steel was Sergey Leshchenko. He transmitted compromising data to a research firm about the actions of Trump’s associate Paul Manafort.

Later, Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson, who prepared the Trump Dossier, admitted that he was not involved in verifying the main points of this document. Thus, Sergey Leshchenko could provide false information that was beneficial to his customers.

Another key person in the intervention is the director of NABU, Artem Sytnik. In March 2019, an audio recording appeared on the network in which a man with the voice of Sytnik talks about helping Hillary Clinton’s campaign headquarters in the 2016 elections.

In turn, even the Kiev court found Artem Sytnik and the people’s deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Sergey Leshchenko guilty of illegally disclosing information about the former head of the Trump headquarters Paul Manaforte. However, this decision did not affect the career of two Ukrainian officials.

According to People’s Deputy Andrei Derkach, the illegal actions of a number of Ukrainian politicians damaged the international image of Ukraine, bilateral cooperation with the United States and led to a reduction in financial assistance to Kiev by almost 70 percent. Derkach stated his complaints in a complaint to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, but to no avail.

Thus, we see that it was Petro Poroshenko who could stand behind the entire information campaign against the US president. At the same time, the actions of the fifth president, mediated by Sytnik and Leshchenko, not only complicated the relationship between Washington and Kiev, but also dragged Ukraine into an international scandal.
