Big mistake to apologize. For one, it gains you nothing, your haters see it as weakness, and it offends your supporters. Besides, Charlie Kirk is a human who is under constant attack, and throwing him over to please the haters is simply cowardice. He deserves better.
Preachers should avoid openly partisan politics, because frankly, if you are evangelizing the lost, that inevitably means Democrats. Focus on the gospel, and as they come to know the Lord, the politics will take care of themselves over time.
But having "liked" someone like Kirk who is in the fight, don't back down.
