Pity there isnt a laser stylus that could read the grooves. Then you could play it indefinitely.
At one time, there was a laser-based turntable that played vinyl...but never caught on due to sound quality lower than high quality Turntable/Tonearm/MC cartridge systems.
That said...
Hearing the reel-to-reel master tape of the Doobies’ “Minute” album was amazingly lifelike. I’ve also heard Sinatra’s master tape - THAT was the best reproduced sound I’ve ever heard....including $500k systems at CES where I exhibited brands I imported for US distribution.
Sinatra was very meticulous about the microphone used for his voice - preferring a German mic.
When The Doors recorded their first album at Sunset Sound, Jim Morrison recognized immediately his voice mic was the same that Sinatra preferred.
