They want to go back even farther than that to the pre-Reagan GOP of the 70s when the Congressional Republicans were the Washington Generals to the Democrats' Harlem Globetrotters. Those Republicans were the loyal and deferential opposition to their Democrat betters in exchange for safe seats, and all the pork and hookers they wanted. Ronaldus Magnus wrecked all that and the GOPe have never forgiven him or conservatives for literally and figuratively ruining their party. That's why they hate us more than the Democrats. A lot more.
