Don’t forget that these interviews can be cherry-picked. The interviewers could have talked to 200 people, and found only 20 who didn’t know the basics.

But those 20 people are the most entertaining. So they’ll be the only ones you see.

Jay Leno ran that gimmick for years. He’d ask people on the street something simple like “How many states are there?” Anyone who answered correctly would not make the final cut.

True, but get a load of the two elementary teachers admitting they aren’t teaching their students reading, writing and arithmetic but how to protest.

Yep, the US got its independence (what’s that?) way back in 1979 from America during the Industrial Revolutionary War (with a wee-wee yank).

History is just something in the textbooks we flip through and the teachers don’t teach it. Hey, bozo’s ever heard of reading a textbook?
