2 out of 71 patients experienced QTc prolongation and it’s not clear if those were incidents associated with COVID-19 and comorbidities or not, i.e, the study is useless. But it sure didn’t stop nationwide dissemination by fake science news to MDs that HCQ causes cardiac side effects.
Still, I understand the study’s termination, liability could have engulfed it, otherwise with the Fauci apparachiks in full attack mode, that study didn’t stand a chance. .
Note in the recent Zelenko and Henry Ford studies as well as several others, there were no as in NONE, cardiac side effects.
What needs to happen is for local public health officials sans Fauci related to do an end run around the fake news blockade and publish, announce, present, with intensity and endurance, repetitiously to MDs in the outpatient community, that the Raoult-Zelenko regimen is not only an urgent advisory but also a must to avoid liability after shifting liability from prescribing to not-prescribing.
I agree and the qTC thing was theoretical in my book, I still treated early on. The tachycardia is not an issue — you see that in all hypoxemia and sepsis. It would be nice if congress passed a sovereign immunity bill around CoVID, the passed a bill to pay regardless of uninsured status so it could be done — but they won’t.
I understand that some physicians take HCQ as prophylaxis, and I think that is an excellent idea. Given the azithromycin and zinc to treat, but start everyone who is vulnerable on Plaquenil 800 mg loading dose, then 400 mg maintenance a week and I think the pandemic stops.
