Yes. It freed us all. There are no slaves still alive.

It freed “most of us” though. One step at a time.

The first one to mention race is the racist.
A lot of people in the US didn’t feel very “free” back then. Why do you think so many people headed west? There was a lot of crap going on in the cities of the Northeast.
There are as many stories about life in the US as there are people. And sometimes race played a part and sometimes it didn’t. As with all countries. Japan is arguably the most xenophobic nation on the planet. Maybe a bunch of black people should move there and protest.

The author should answer two questions.
Where are black people treated better than in the United States?
Why do you want to destroy the system that made better lives possible for Black people than anywhere else in the world?

No, of course not. That was a stupid question. Forget I asked it.

"I used to always tell this joke about, well, today, as we celebrate our Independence Day, well, not all of us," Hughley says. "Some of us weren't free for a little while after that. But you know, anything for time-and-a-half and a slab of baby backs. But it's just one of those inconveniences that we tolerate because ... people don't want to upset a story. No one was freed on Independence Day.
On July 4, 1776 the Continental Congress signed a declaration of war.
They put the king and parliament of Great Britain on notice that the American Colonies would have to be beaten into submission if Britain intended to keep them under the dominion of the King.
The United States would fight another 8 years to gain their independence.
