(Spain is a European country)

I was thinking about all the jobs that require speaking spanish too.

In some areas, if you can’t speak spanish it’s mighty hard to get hired...

“I was thinking about all the jobs that require speaking spanish too.”

Two true stories:

High school Spanish, a month in Honduras and in and out of Texas since 1972.

1).
In the 80’s I was on an offshore plant in Saudi Arabia with a Japanese guy who worked for NEC. He was talking to an Arab comm guy. I had been listening with half an ear since they weren’t speaking English, when then I realized I could understand what they were talking about. Turns out both were speaking Spanish.

2).
About 8 years ago I was staying in a small hotel just outside Paris, and was trying to get out early so I could drop a co-worker in downtown Paris on my way to the airport.

There was no one at the desk but there was a note, in English, to pick up the phone to check out. Picked up the phone and the other end was answered by someone speaking French - who did not speak English. I don’t speak French, so I tried Spanish - what did I have to lose? Turned out he and I both spoke enough Spanish so that I was able to get both myself and my co-worker checked out of the French hotel and on our way.

The Spanish language is everywhere.
