What is happening in Texas!? Are masks really mandatory? I had to wear a mask when I went to buy a few things last night in Galveston. My understanding is that I need to wear a mask in public if social distancing is not possible, or I get fined. Governor Abbott even banned protests that dont have masks and social distancing. He is every bit as bad as the lefty Governors right now. At least the lefty Governors dont fine protests.

The concept of communal health and socialized health is seen in Canada. Everything that they feel drives up medical expenses is banned - driving a bike without a helmet, for example. This is what socialized medicine can do to a society - politicians then decide to eliminate freedoms in the name of cost reductions. Is this the beginning in the USA of ever increasing loss of freedom so that government health expenditures can be reduced?
Ping. Freepmail Impimp to go on the ping list.
POST FROM ANOTHER THREAD:
“The US Surgeon General has urged the public not to buy face masks to protect against the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, warning they are largely ineffective at protecting against the viral infection in public.
“They are, however, a useful tool for doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals who are consistently in close proximity to infected individuals. So, to prevent vital medical resources from running dry, the Surgeon General, Dr Jerome M Adams, has warned against rushing out to buy face masks.
“’Seriously people STOP BUYING MASKS!’ Dr Adams tweeted over the weekend.

That’s how they phrased it in Massachusetts also. Which really means that you never need to wear a mask because it is always at least possible to social distance. The stupid way it’s written means that you don’t even have to socially distance. It just has to be possible to.
I have never put a mask on in public and looked forward to pointing out the poorly written ‘law’ if ever confronted but that hasn’t happened.
Abbott needs two sets of rules. One for the denizens of urban squalor and one for the rest of us folks in the hinterlands.
