All ten will have non-compliant items mixed in. It doesn’t matter, though, as they will be mostly merged together again before heading to the landfill.

This sounds exactly like the recycling episode of Penn & Teller's TV show BullSchiff! (not the actual name of the show).

In part of the episode, they had an actor see how many different colored containers he could get people to agree to separate stuff into. I think it ended up being around 8-10!

What is the cost of collecting 10 different containers from every household? Are there 10 different trucks? This is ludicrous on the surface.

I thought the Swedes just conceded that they quit sorting things out at the “recycling” plants and just chucked everything into landfills. But, of course, the citizenry must still comply, because it is “good for them” and “makes them feel like they are doing something”. Isn’t that really close to a pointless, and in this case, costly, religious observance?

Something is rotten in the blue trash bin in the state of Denmark.

Screw it. Anything without my name will get tossed into a public trash can.

My city has one trash can for garbage and another for all recyclables. I'm willing to toss my glass, plastic, metal and paper into the recycle bin because it takes almost no work and essentially gives me an extra 64 gallons of disposal per week for free. If I had to work at it, it would just all go into the regular trash.

I see what they’re doing, they take the recycled material, and use it to make more recycling containers! Soon, they’ll have hundreds of containers in front of each house, but nothing going to the landfill.

“People living in Denmark will need to sort their recycling into ten different containers, under a new deal that aims to cut 0.7m tonnes of emissions and make the country’s waste sector carbon neutral by 2030.”

But they will FEEL GOOD about what they’re doing...regardless of the fact that most of it gets dumped in the ocean.

Who has the yard space to keep ten bins? Who has the extra hour to wheel them to the curb and back? What neighborhood has enough road space for every house to put ten bins on the street? I just gave our recycle bin back because it all goes to the dump anyway.

And what do they make the ten containers out of?

Petroleum products for the win, Alex.

The waste will sit unused for months, then get shipped to China, which will promptly incinerate it.

Something to consider - all those plastic tubs on wheels have bar or QR codes. These tubs are all over the place. I’ve seen them pop up in youtube videos from Russia, Japan, China, the whole PLANET is using them now!

Unless I’m missing something, the only reason to have codes on these tubs is to identify the user (can’t say owner because the waste hauler owns them). The tub are designed to eliminate handling by humans, they are loaded into modified garbage trucks by mechanical means. While I have no first hand knowledge, the addition of digital strain gauges to measure weight allows the local green police to monitor an individual’s output of recyclables and potentially take action if the output is not up to desired levels. Add computer vision and a neural network to see what’s being thrown our as well.

Throw all that data into a spreadsheet in each citizen’s file and Big Green Brother will be a happy, and dangerous despot.

I have one container...my trash can. Everything goes to the dump. And I mean everything. I don’t recycle anything.

Throughout history, the most prosperous nations have polluted the least. It is because they can afford spending some of their wealth to keep their environment clean. The Left clearly doesn’t understand this, as it also doesn’t understand how wealth is created.

Wealth is created ONLY when human labor produces more value than the cost of the labor. Human labor always has a cost associated with it. There is simply a total limit on the availability of human labor. When this labor is wasted by sorting and storing, and dealing with trash, the human labor cost far exceeds the value. Wealth is destroyed when this human labor cost is higher than the value produced. Wealth will decline, and society will suffer.
