Has the FDA approved any vaccine, ever, for any coronavirus?
SARS-CoV-2 is a positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus. Just like polio, hepatitis A, and rubella, all of which have safe and working vaccines. Many other viruses of that type do not have vaccines available. There’s no technical reason why - with sufficient investment of time and resources - we couldn’t get a safe and working vaccine. The President doesn’t need to develop it himself; he needs competent people that he can properly motivate to do the work. That’s what he’s doing. That’s what gets results. Whether it takes three months or six months or a year, I have plenty of reason to believe President Trump will see this through and be successful. And when he is, I’m coming back to this thread to post an “I told you so”.
