A very funny man. He will be missed.
Mel is next.
Wow. Remembered for a show that went off the air 60 years ago.
Thank You, Carl. Your comic genius added a ton of laughter to my TV viewing childhood. Each episode provided a study of what family life and American ambition looked like at that time.
Carl did not direct these, but “How to succeed in business w/o really trying” with Robert Morse, The Apartment, with Jack Lemon and Shirley McClain were motion pictures that displayed some of the same themes.
Comedy Legend, Liberal and father of the even more Liberal Rob “Meathead” Reiner passes away at 98.
...
I don’t recall him running his mouth the way his son does.
I just self-censored, erasing my comment.
Carl was indeed a comedy legend and a great talent, but if you think the apple has more rot than the tree you are mistaken. The biggest difference between Carl and his son is that Carl was less vocal about his views until later in life when he was less concerned about his public image.
The straight man/interviewer for the 2000 year old man. Some of the best comedy ever recorded imho. But of course it was almost all Mel Brooks and it was hilarious. Still listen to it from time to time.
RIP.
